The Push by Ashley Audrain

The Push by Ashley Audrain Summary
The Push is a novel that can be categorized as the psychological thriller because the author Ashley Audrain explores the themes of motherhood and fear in the human soul. The main idea of the plot is based on the protagonist called Blythe Connor, a woman who tries to be a good mother but is not able to handle her own speechless trauma that she tries to overcome to properly raise her daughter named Violet.
Later when Violet grows Blythe developes some serious concerns about her’s daughter’s behavior and starts doubting her own sanity. It would therefore be fitting to talk about the mother’s anxieties, social pressure, and the inheritance of one’s trauma. The events in the novel are suspenseful and rather creepy to culminate in a final scene that makes the readers reread the novel to be reminded of the gothic infused revelation of a monstrous family hidden beneath a seemingly happy facade.
