Summary

A recent book named “Girl in Pieces,” authored by Kathleen Glasgow presents the life of the main character: a girl named Charlotte “Charlie” Davis who suffers from an incredible amount of pain and trauma as her father is an alcoholic, her mother has nervous breakdowns, and she has lost her best friend. She copes by self mutilation and by feeling like the only one in her class.

Still, when Charlie goes through a critical point brought upon her by a difficult scene, she ends up in a hospital and tries to fill in the blanks. From friends, new contacts, and within those strengths, she starts to heal. Clinical psychology is also an important theme presented throughout the novel since readers see Charlie gradually regain control as well as her individuality.
