Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate is a poignant novel inspired by true events that follows two parallel stories. And in part’s pitying history, it tells the Fisher family of five children where their five children are stolen by a wicked adoption agency. The children are split and put into abusive situations; the story’s protagonist is Rill, who is doing all she can to keep her siblings together while enduring the abuse.

In the present day a plot revolves round Avery Stafford she is a successful attorney who is struggling to come to term with the problem of her family as well as the recent development of her father’s health condition. One day while on a visit to a nursing home, Avery meets a woman by the name of Judy who proceeds to tell her about the history of her family in a way that no one has before.
