Man o Salwa Novel by Umera Ahmed

Umera Ahmed‘s novel Man o Salwa deals with the moral, religious, and corruption of materialism. The story revolves around two main characters: both Zainab and Karam Ali have to overcome a lot and make a lot of morally challenged decisions on their way to getting a better life.

She dreams of escaping poverty, and Zainab is an innocent, devout young woman, alive but living a humble life. She falls in love with a guy who is her ticket to a good life. But after several betrayals, she breaks her heart and is shattered. It’s in her desperation to rise above her social status that she does go abroad, into the allurement of wealth, and loses her values and pays a high price.
