The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

The Midnight Library is a novel by Matt Haig that follows the life of Nora Seed, a woman who ends up in a library between life and death. Every book on its shelves is her life which could have been if she had made different decisions. Saddened by remorse, which settles at her shoulder in the form of regret, Nora embarks on these parallel lives to see how it feels to live the choices she didn’t make: singing instead of marrying, being a wife and a mother instead of a traveling, global woman.
Throughout these possibilities Nora gains meaningful knowledge about happiness, about satisfaction and about life. Finally, the path of the film brings her to have to face her selfishness and re-define what being fulfilled is. The novel marvellously depicts the ideas of regret, hope, and the advanced array of values in life exist in each individual.
